Privacy
This site shows you your IP address. It would be absurd for it to collect that address along the way. Here is exactly what happens.
What the site does not do
- No advertising, no ad network, no affiliate links.
- No trackers, no analytics, no cookies.
- No third-party calls: fonts, images and code are all served from this domain. Your address is passed to nobody.
- No application log: this site writes your IP address to no file.
- No account, no form, no personal data requested.
What stays in your browser
Two things are stored locally on your device and never leave your browser: the light or dark theme you chose, and the list of your previous IP addresses, used to tell you when one changes. The "Clear history" button removes them immediately.
How geolocation is computed
Your provider and approximate location are determined on the server, from GeoLite2 databases downloaded and stored locally. No request is sent to MaxMind or any other service while you visit.
Reverse DNS
The hostname attached to your address comes from a reverse DNS query. That query carries your IP address and goes to the resolver configured on the server. It is the only information about you that leaves the machine, and it is ordinary DNS behaviour.
Server logs
Like any web server, the one hosting this site may keep technical logs containing visitor IP addresses, for security and diagnostics. These logs are not analysed, not cross-referenced with anything, and not shared with anyone except under a court order. Your internet provider keeps its own record of your connection, independently of this site.
Your rights
Since no personal data is collected or kept by this site, there is no processing on which to exercise a right of access, rectification or erasure.
